SPANISH MINISTER FOR YOUTH AND CHILDHOOD<\/b><\/p>\n

Her political activity began in the student movement at the Madrid Aut\u00f3noma University (UAM), where she studied Human Nutrition. At the start of the recession, she founded the Popular Solidarity Network which set in motion various community action groups. She is very committed to the Palestinian cause (she spent part of her childhood in the area occupied by Israel since her family lives near East Jerusalem).<\/span><\/p>\n

As a European parliamentarian since 2019, she promoted the FRONTEX Research Group, and followed up on the New Pact on Migration and Asylum as well as the Renewable Energy Directive.<\/span><\/p>\n

Since November 2023, she has been the Spanish Minister for Youth and Childhood.<\/span><\/p>\n

Holding a degree in Geography and History from the Universidad Complutense (Madrid) and a PhD in History from the UNED, she is also an expert in Management and Assessment of International Cooperation projects and Evaluation of Programs and Public Policies.<\/span><\/p>\n

From 1993 to 1998 she lived in several African countries carrying out research work for Harvard University, the Universidad Complutense (Madrid), the Wildlife Conservation Society, the National Science Foundation and the Swan Foundation, among others. During this period, she also managed projects in development cooperation for a variety of international organizations.<\/span><\/p>\n

She has worked as a Development and International Cooperation Consultant for <\/span>PriceWaterHouse<\/span><\/i> and, since 2001, has worked as a Project Director in different NGOs for projects in Asia, Africa and Latin America. She has also lead projects in Humanitarian Aid and Emergency in the regions of the Maghreb and the Middle East, with a focus on the situation of Palestine refugees.<\/span><\/p>\n

An author of several publications, Raquel Mart\u00ed currently combines her work as executive director of the UNRWA Spanish Committee with extensive teaching activity, on the humanitarian situation in the Middle East and International Cooperation, in various professional forums and universities.<\/span><\/p>\n

Director of International Cooperation and Humanitarian Action at Save the Children. <\/strong><\/p>\n

As the person responsible for executing international cooperation and humanitarian action strategies for this NGO, he oversees the coordination of human, technical and financial resources which support strategic objectives related to the defence of children’s rights in developing countries. Vicente Raimundo lived and worked in developing countries between 1994 and 2018, when he returned to Spain and began working with Save the Children.<\/span><\/p>\n

REPORTER FOR MSF<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ruth Conde is a paediatric nurse and she was medical coordinator for the MSF organization in Gaza, for which she began working in 2012.<\/span><\/p>\n

Her first mission was in Niger, after that, she has been to the Central African Republic, Yemen, India, Venezuela, Colombia, Guinea Bissau, Guatemala, Mozambique, Ukraine and the Occupied Palestinian Territories.<\/span><\/p>\n

She returned from the Gaza Strip in January 2024, where she has worked as an MSF medical representative in Al Shaboura and in the maternity ward of the Emirati hospital in Rafah (in southern Gaza).<\/span><\/p>\n

Intercultural mediator and founder of ASOCIACI\u00d3N EXMENAS\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ismail El Majdoubi is an intercultural mediator, an activist who defends the Rights of Children and Migrant Youth. He is the founder of the EXmenas association, a collective which seeks to raise awareness regarding unaccompanied minors who arrive in Spain, by demanding attention to their needs and a the projection of a positive image of these migrants.<\/b><\/p>\n

Ismail El Majdoubi was born in Castillejos, a Moroccan town on the border with Ceuta. At the age of 16 he crossed the border under a truck, without being aware of the dangers he faced nor what awaited him on the other side of the Strait: institutional racism, neglect, and lack of protection. Until he turned 18, he passed through seven social shelters, both in Andalusia and Madrid. Her political activism and social commitment to the causes of the poor and oppressed prompted her to create the Tabadol Women’s Association, leading a neighborhood movement of (especially) women to demand the restoration of electricity in Ca\u00f1ada Real, and taking part in the collective lawsuit on this issue before the Committee on Social Rights of the Council of Europe; the first legal complaint filed against the Spanish State.<\/span><\/p>\n

This short film, directed by Guillermo Garc\u00eda L\u00f3pez, which will be screened at the Acampa2024 International Meeting, delves into the lives of two children who have lived in Ca\u00f1ada Real (Madrid) without electricity, for already four years. It had its world premiere in the official competition category and was nominated for the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Festival, as well as winning the 2023 Forqu\u00e9 Award and the 2024 Goya Award for Best Fiction Short Film.<\/span><\/p>\n

Among her other works, the feature film <\/span>Fr\u00e1gil Equilibrio<\/span><\/i> (2016), also by Guillermo Garc\u00eda L\u00f3pez. After obtaining an interview with the then President of Uruguay, Jos\u00e9 Mujica, the film is articulated through his words, which serve as a guide to bring the viewer closer via three stories on three different continents: two Japanese business executives in Tokyo, whose lives are based solely on their jobs; a sub-Saharan community on Mount Gurug\u00fa, on the border between Africa and Europe, that risks its life trying to cross to the First World; and several families in Madrid, destroyed by the financial crisis and the loss of their homes.<\/span><\/p>\n
